Short Biographical Information
Paule Saviano


New York native Paule Saviano has been snapping photographs since he was 12 years old.   He studied Visual Media and Political Science at the American University (1992-1996) in Washington, DC.  

Since than he's been published in magazines around the globe and has accepted every kind of photography assignment from fashion to landscape until settling firmly into portrait photography.   His photographs have appeared in magazines such as Faces (Switzerland), Belio (Spain), Mono (Japan), Resonance (USA), Talk (Australia), Index (USA), and numerous others.   He's criss-crossed the world photographing many personalities and bands such as Marilyn Manson, Radiohead, and AC/DC to name a few.  

Paule has had solo exhibitions at distinguished galleries in Tokyo, New York, Helsinki, Shanghai, London, Nagasaki, and Italy.   He continues to produce images that blend intimacy and alienation.  

His most recent project involves portraits of Hibakusha, atomic bomb Survivors, and Tokyo fire bombing Survivors of 1945.   During March/April 2009 the project was exhibited at Gallery EF in Tokyo, Japan.   Many people attended the exhibition at the historic warehouse which was one of a few buildings to survive the fire bombings of WW II.  

Major newspapers and television outlets throughout Japan have reported about the project.   The overwhelming attention given to the photographs resulted in an invitation to exhibit the project at the Nagasaki Peace Museum during June/July 2010.   It is an on-going project, with a goal to bring the exhibition to cities inside and outside of Japan.  

The project has expanded to include fire bombing Survivors from Dresden, Germany.   This series of portraits will be shown simultaneously in Dresden and Tokyo during February 2011.   It will travel to Chemnitz, Germany in March 2011.  

His prior series on striptease burlesque artists in the rising underground burlesque scene has been exhibiting around the globe for 4 years.   The project not only spotlights the performer's on-stage personality but also the life behind the costumes.   It premiered in Tokyo during 2007.   Than was exhibited in Shanghai, China, Iisalmi, Finland, and Helsinki., Finland.   The project is scheduled to be exhibited again in Europe during 2010 and 2011.
